The cleaning out of the huts etc was carried out by Hungarian Soldiers who were left behind by the German Wehrmacht who went off to fight the Russian.<BR/><BR/>I would be very interested to know whether Mervyn Peake wrote anything about Belsen and also exactly what dates he was there.
