Last Wednesday, 12th November, the second in the three part BBC 4 Television series: Picture Book: an Illustrated History of Children's Literature featured one of Mervyn Peake's illustrations for Alices's Adventures in Wonderland. Although just fleeting on the screen, the image of Alice lying on the grass, perfectly captures her mood as she peeps into the book her sister was reading.

Regular readers of this blog will be familiar with the energy and detail which Sebastian used to keep us up-to-date with any news of his father's work, particularly during the centenary year, 2011. His sudden death has been a great shock to his friends and family but the promotion of his father's work will continue under the guidance of his brother and sister, Fabian and Clare. I worked with Sebastian on the blog and will continue to add details of events and new publications as well as any other news when it becomes available. Alison Eldred
