A sale of 20th Century Art at Bonham's of New Bond Street on Wednedsay 18th November includes two works by Mervyn Peake. A magnificent oil painting on board of a cockerel (24 1/2 x 20") titled Chanticleer and another oil painting on canvas of a youth, (21 7/8 x 14 1/4") titled The Simpleton, previously unknown, will go under the hammer.
The drawing for The Man in the Wilderness (top) is being sold at Christie's.
Regular readers of this blog will be familiar with the energy and detail which Sebastian used to keep us up-to-date with any news of his father's work, particularly during the centenary year, 2011.
His sudden death has been a great shock to his friends and family but the promotion of his father's work will continue under the guidance of his brother and sister, Fabian and Clare.
I worked with Sebastian on the blog and will continue to add details of events and new publications as well as any other news when it becomes available.
