Mervyn Peake's Alice illustrations are currently on display in the glass cabinets, seen on the right in this photograph. With over half a million visitors a year, this magnificent gallery, on the mezzanine floor of the British Library, provides a wonderful opportunity to view the originals. Both the library and the gallery, are free to the public.

Regular readers of this blog will be familiar with the energy and detail which Sebastian used to keep us up-to-date with any news of his father's work, particularly during the centenary year, 2011. His sudden death has been a great shock to his friends and family but the promotion of his father's work will continue under the guidance of his brother and sister, Fabian and Clare. I worked with Sebastian on the blog and will continue to add details of events and new publications as well as any other news when it becomes available. Alison Eldred
