My admiration for Mervyn Peake is such that a chance meeting with a Peake relative in a Finsbury Park pub ranks as one of the more significant events of 2001 in my personal calculus. His myriad achievements across the arts within such a relatively short period are humbling testament to a fearsome talent. Happy Birthday, Mervyn Peake.
Regular readers of this blog will be familiar with the energy and detail which Sebastian used to keep us up-to-date with any news of his father's work, particularly during the centenary year, 2011.
His sudden death has been a great shock to his friends and family but the promotion of his father's work will continue under the guidance of his brother and sister, Fabian and Clare.
I worked with Sebastian on the blog and will continue to add details of events and new publications as well as any other news when it becomes available.
