Regular readers of this blog will be familiar with the energy and detail which Sebastian used to keep us up-to-date with any news of his father's work, particularly during the centenary year, 2011. His sudden death has been a great shock to his friends and family but the promotion of his father's work will continue under the guidance of his brother and sister, Fabian and Clare. I worked with Sebastian on the blog and will continue to add details of events and new publications as well as any other news when it becomes available. Alison Eldred

well, I have come late to Gormenghast, although it has been on my list of books to read for years but I saw the trilogy in Waterstones, UK and made a copy mine. When the BBC did a mini-series, I was almost tempted to watch it but my preference has always been to read first and enjoy someone else's visual interpretation after. So, it is a joy. I have just left Stephen Donaldson's universe of the Gap Series of novels and Peake's world is altogether more claustrophobic that outer space, and no less enjoyable for all that. I was thrilled to read The Frivolous Cake, an absolute joy for someone brought up on McGonagall. Highly recommended to those who feast on novel language and deep description.
