Several hundred entries were submitted to this year's Mervyn Peake Awards, including many photographs, paintings and drawings. There were also 165 poems. Seen here making a short list of the winners in each category, at the charity's HQ in London on Election Day, are Fabian Peake and Clare Penate.

Regular readers of this blog will be familiar with the energy and detail which Sebastian used to keep us up-to-date with any news of his father's work, particularly during the centenary year, 2011. His sudden death has been a great shock to his friends and family but the promotion of his father's work will continue under the guidance of his brother and sister, Fabian and Clare. I worked with Sebastian on the blog and will continue to add details of events and new publications as well as any other news when it becomes available. Alison Eldred
